Thouroughly recommend to endurance athletes, Friday, February 20, 2009
Reviewed by Darkseed I'm new to triathlons but have been an edurance runner for a number of years both in and out of the military. My wife is also an endurance runner.
We stumbled across accelerade when re-stocking our usual long list of endurance supplements and proteins and wanted a sports drink that was good value for money mostly. As like many others we'd always used just water with salt tabs or store bought things like Gatorade etc.
I'd read a few reviews of accelerade and thought i'd give it a try.
since using it, all i can say is i'm not even going to switch brands. I've noticed increased performance and energy levels during and after workouts and significantly increased recovery times when coupled with protein shakes and vitamin supplements.
My run, bike and swim times have all improved. I used to hit the dreaded "wall" when training for the run and cycle usually around 25%-50% into the workout, but while i still hit that wall, its now mostly just a mental barrier rather than a physical one.
I have to say though that it is not for every palate - some of my friends say its too bitter and its not particularly refreshing, but i'm happy to down something that keeps my energy levels up rather than taste the greatest.
Overall i'm impressed and going into my first triathlon season with one less thing to deal with... now i just have to find a gel... thinking of the accelerade made ones as i'm so impressed with the drink...

Reviewed by TriGone I tried a bottle of this stuff at a gas station once and was a little perplexed by it. It's kinda thick, kinda sour, kinda sweet. But definitely unique. It's got protein it, so I like it. But I would never drink this unless I'm doing some sort of intense physical activity. It's a nice mix to put in your bottle cage on the bike. I recommend drinking this with another bottle of water or light sports drink to help cleanse your palate.
