I've been using GU for years. Every once in a while I'll branch out and try another brand, but no one can match GU in the taste category. It's always such a treat to down a GU before a big workout or race. The caffeine aspect also saved me one day when I had back to back races. Chocolate is great, but I'm also a fan of Espresso Love! GU was the first gel I tried and I keep coming back to it. It doesn't get chunky if you leave it in the sun on a long ride or run. Personally, I'm a big fan of the chocolate outrage, espresso and vanilla - all taste like pudding. I feel stronger towards the end of my workout if I do a GU or two. I wish they did something to keep the top tab attached to packet once you open it -I see too many littered on trails and I make sure to keep both pieces in my jersey. I think Clif Shots have a little leash so they stay together. A lot of races will hand out GU, so I made sure to train with it and get my body used to the shot of sugar and carbs. It keeps me going. GU Energy Gel packs have provided me consistently good results during the past year while long distance swimming. I haven't experienced any noticeable "crash" that I often experience (due to insulin surge) with similar products after 10 - 15 minutes of use. The low volume gels are convenient in both the pool and open water where bars and liquids aren't practical. All of the flavors are good tasting, but I prefer vanilla because some of the other flavors tend to increase thirst.
