Since this is the stuff that volunteers are going to hand to me at my races I thought it might be a good idea to get used to it. It's definitely strong and I'm not a fan of how much sugar it has but watering it down works nicely (a canister lasts me way longer than 30x 24oz servings). Too much sugar and I'll cramp up, which is why its nice to train with so I'm not figuring out how my body reacts to it on raceday. Gatorade is the gold standard in endurance drinks and the lemon lime flavor is great. I usually bring gatorade on long rides with a couple of motor tabs so I can refill easily and keep the electrolytes.

I do like the Gatorade Endurance formual, but the flavor is kind of strong. It works well, and keeps me hydrated. I prefer a sports drink that has a lighter flavor, which I have found in Motortabs, but I still use this, because it works very well, and is so widely distributed at the races.

Maybe that's TMI. A lot of athletes knock it but Gatorade works for me. Before I knew about water poisoning and maintaining electrolyte balance I was riding ~60 mi with my cycling club drinking only water and I would come back with cold chills, a fever, and a TERRIBLE headache that would last for days. My mom of all people recommended regular Gatorade and voila fever and cold chills went away. When I'm doing moderate workouts regular Gatorade works for me, but on intense workout days (extra hot or extra strenuous) the Endurance formula will for sure not give me headaches (whereas with the regular one I'd still occasionally get them). Powder is also really convenient bc I just dump some in my bottles and fill up water when I'm ready to ride. You can adjust the strength too. Downsides - it does taste a bit salty!
