Common questionsHow much time is required?
Typically speaking Interns are expected to work a minimum of 10 hrs a week. The program will last an entire quarter or 3 months. The current program is unique in its design so the time requirements are more flexible. However anybody interested in getting school credit for the internship will be required to meet minimum hourly requirements.
Is this a paid internship?
There are both paid and unpaid options for this internship. Paid internships are dependent on the intern’s dedication, knowledge, and performance.
Program DisciplinesBelow are partial descriptions of the disciplines and tasks that should be anticipated. Disciplines usually align with departments in the organization.
Sales and Marketing:
Sales and Marketing are grouped together in most businesses. In larger organizations these two departments can be separate but they still work closely together. A successful sales person is someone who has tremendous customer service, drive, and tenacity. He/she usually wants to control his/her own fate. Critical thinking and the ability to multi-task are also important qualities to have in this role.
The Customer Support department is responsible for resolving and tracking issues related to products, shipping, service, and any other customer oriented issue. Individuals in this department must be dedicated to assisting the customer to the best of their ability. It is important to understand and empathize with a customer while coming to a resolution as quickly as possible.
The Shipping department is responsible for making sure all orders are sent to the customer in a timely manner. Inventory management is responsible for determining which kits are inventoried for sale by the company. Scheduling and productivity are among the top demands of this discipline. This environment requires constant attention and understanding of fluctuating variables. This job is a constant attempt of measuring and predicting change of numerous variables.
The accounting department is responsible for making sure all the book keeping is in order. All taxes, account balances, receivables, and payables must be handled timely and accurately. Individuals in this department must have extreme attention to detail and accuracy. It is important to prioritize appropriately and be efficient in completing tasks.
Marketing and Advertising:
The Marketing and Advertising department is mostly known for its strength in online marketing. As well we do print, event, and club campaigns. Marketing and advertising demand serious time management and devotion. In order to be successful in this environment an individual needs to be able to work under high pressure environments.
